early history
Silk Manufacturing
Our history goes all the way back to the early 1900s, when our original founder ran a silk mill in the Lehigh Valley's historic garment district, producing silk lingerie.
During WW2, the company was tasked by the federal government with producing silk parachutes for the 82nd and 101st Airborne Divisions. When the war was over, the company took a new turn; supplying homemakers and small businesses with quality sewing supplies, all done via mail order catalogs.
Decades later, we're still offering the same high quality supplies, service and fast shipping our customers have come to love.

Newark Dressmaker Supply + Home Sew
After successfully running a mail-order catalog business, Home Sew merged with the famous Newark Dressmaker Supply in the early 1980s.
Together, we have decades of experience sourcing the best materials, notions and tools on the market.
